URE Mudfest!

Well, the idea of just driving to Uwharrie and doing a pre-ride was just that. A buddy and I went up there and started riding on what was last years course and got lost about 5 miles into it. We were told that there would be some black arrows pointing us in the right direction...not so much. Sooo...we ended up doing about 20 miles of extra riding on all of the service roads. In reality they are just as difficult to ride as a trail but not as fun. We accumulated almost 4000 feet of climbing which made it worth it after all. After the ride we took a swim in Badin Lake which was loaded with 2 foot wakes from this crazy wind we had today. It was a bit cold but wasn't nearly as bad as Tahoe... I had to keep reminding myself of that to just suck it up and get in. After the ride we drove the 2hrs back home and ran the Smith Lake run course:) Not planned but what a great way to end a hard training day. Oh, and the picture of my bike explains what the course was like. NASTY! Thats it for now, I am recovering and getting hydrated for tomorrows workouts. Looking forward to a long slow run in the a.m. then a swim during lunch and a ride after work...PEACE!
