Rest at Last

Today will be a down day for training...sort of, I might go for a run this afternoon. This week has been kind of a slow week as far as training but the good news is that I am figuring out how long it takes for me to recover from long and intense training rides. After my ride last Sunday I did a recovery ride the very next day and then waited three days (yesterday) until my next ride. When I rode yesterday I felt a little stronger than normal and was able to bust out a 20 mile mtb ride and not even feel it. This means that I am ready for the next level of training...I will boost my distance and intensity. Tomorrow I will do a 3.5 hr ride hopefully at at the same pace if not faster than last weekend.

My swimming is also coming along quite nicely and I can already tell I am at least where I left off last year. All I need to do now is improve my overall speed...which is grueling in it self. Form is the key component to speed and without it you are just another body in the water. The plan is to get coached in the water again sometime in March. I was coached last year for only one session by Olympic swimmer Angel Martino and with her fine tuning it made dramatic differences in my form and speed. I have since practiced the techniques she has shown me but there is always something that can be improved even more.

As far as running I am between 18 and 24 miles a week (road and off-road). With a myriad of training styles; Fartlek training, hills, and plenty of distance runs. Yes, I am an addict...

PEACE!!!

Oh yah, thats my dog "Jimmy"...he too is an exercise addict
