Well, I am back from race weekend. I ended up finishing 2nd in my AG and 21st overall with an obvious strong field. I wasn't able to see the splits between the competition and I yet to evaluate what I had done wrong. I felt as though personally, I had a strong race. My swim was a lot faster than last year even though I did an extra 50 meters or so going off track from one of the buoys. This type of course leaves no room for mistakes. The MTB course is extremely fast and short so making up time and passing is tough. That left me the run to attack. I passed probably 7 or so people on the bike and about 10 on the run. I was happy with my seven minute pace but knew I could have probably held a 6:30 pace for sure. Like I said in my last post it always (for me) takes the first race to see what training translates to race day. All in all I am faster than last year but need to step up my game the next few months in order to be a major competitor.
