Training
The past two days have gone really well. I have been slightly unmotivated after a few days off away from the grind but believe its just what I needed. I am still milking my left achiles a bit. Iam just too afraid to run the pavement too much. Its frustrating not really running outside. Today for instance I did an hour and a half of cardio in the gym...not what Id call exciting but it was good overall. There is a time limit on all of the machines for 30 minutes and being an integrity minded person I decided to follow the rules. I ran thirty minutes on the treadmil at around a 8 mph pace just kind of jogging really. Then it was on to the eliptical trainer for 30, and finally the stair machine. I thought the stair machine would be a good cool down 30 minutes but instead I sweat even more! That thing was just torcher but in a good way. I climbed 148 flights of stairs! Tomorrows workout will consist of a swim, some weight training and another hour of cardio. My first XTERRA race this season will be the Cup race in Colorado. I really need to have a good base before I hit that altitude or it will be just as bad as nationals. I cannot wait! Typically my first few races are good and then kind of become routine throughout the rest of the season. I am hoping the late start will increase my odds of getting the regional champ spot this year. I have been really close (1 spot for 2yrs, 3spots last year)and its really motivating to try harder every season. We'll see whats in store though...more to come. Bring the pain!
